Luca Fay van de Laar, currently working in Breda, paints animals and people, particularly the animals we own, such as dogs, cats, and horses. Her focus is especially on horses. Horses are not companion animals, but working animals.

Like us, they are expected to participate in society; we demand something in return from them. But what happens if we let go of this expectation? Perceiving each other's fragile, sensitive ways of moving and communicating.

Van de Laar captures the postures of ourselves and our animals in fragile dreamy paintings with a feeling of an underlying pain.
